HOW CAN YOU INTEGRATE SMS INTO YOUR MARKETING STRATEGY?

Using SMS (short-message-system, or short message service) as part of your marketing strategy might sound strange to you, but have you noticed how much time you spend checking your cell phone?.

When you get a message notification, don't you go check the message almost immediately?

You're not alone...

90% of people who receive SMS open the messages they get on their phone no more than 3 minutes after receiving them!

Sending text messages or SMS has its advantages; we'll give you a few points so you can start considering it:

Advantages of Using SMS Marketing

  • Unlike a post on any other medium (social media, email, traditional media), which requires fitting a format, SMS messages don't need any format at all; a campaign can be scheduled in a few seconds.
  • By default, SMS messages must be short and easy to remember, so here it's important that your call-to-action be very eye-catching.
  • 95% of SMS messages sent are received; there's no SPAM folder.

SMS marketing campaigns have different purposes; we'll sum them up in two:

  • As a Notification: it can be used to confirm attendance at an event, to notify your customers of their order status, or to notify them of a cancellation, update, or reminder.
  • For Marketing: it can be used to send messages to segmented groups of contacts, that is, to send campaigns to groups of contacts we know have shown interest in a specific product. You can send them discount codes or promotions.

With this type of campaign, a smartphone becomes a personal assistant for the user, since they would receive notifications with promotions and discounts from their favorite brands.

Something VERY important before integrating SMS as part of your marketing strategy.

To start sending SMS, you need a quality contact database: people who have agreed to share their information with you. Otherwise, your messages will be extremely annoying, and that would cause rejection of your brand even if they don't know it yet.

For that, the best method is to use forms on your website to collect information from contacts who are truly interested in your product.

It's important for these forms to be connected directly to your marketing tool, so that every time someone interested arrives at your website and fills out the form, their information is automatically saved in your database.

Among the ways to present forms on your web page are pop-ups or fixed blocks. Pop-ups are screens that suddenly appear while you scroll and browse the page. They're a bit intrusive, but they work for quickly displaying the form.

As for the fixed block, you can use a specific landing page for the form, or insert an HTML script in the part of your page where you want to place the form.

Now you have a better idea of what SMS Marketing is and why you should take advantage of its benefits.

If you already use email marketing, complement your strategy with SMS messaging.
