NEW SOCIAL MEDIA LAUNCHES: FACEBOOK JOB POSTINGS
Facebook began competing with LinkedIn in the job ads market as of February 16. For now, the new update is available for business pages in the US and Canada.
It seems the new feature has many advantages for both Facebook and its users. Because of how its users behave, it already has a big advantage over LinkedIn: Sharing posts, commenting and tagging are much more common and routine on Facebook, which encourages use of the new feature. In addition, the content targeting options on Facebook are considerably more advanced compared with LinkedIn.
For users, it is now very simple and fast to apply for an opening through Facebook. Companies can post openings on their page the same way they publish any other post. Thanks to the built-in “Apply Now” button, users can fill out an application and send it directly from Messenger.
In addition, business pages can post in the “Jobs” section of their page, listing all the openings they have. It is simple and easygoing, and we predict users will love it.
Although this is undoubtedly bad news for LinkedIn, it will likely keep its status as the No. 1 professional social network for now. However, it has to find a way to make sure its users don't go back to Facebook, where they probably were before they came to LinkedIn.
Although, by becoming a social network that offers everything, Facebook is running the risk of irritating users who miss what it was like in its early years, it seems no one can deny that it has become more powerful than anyone could have expected.
