[VIDEO ] SOCIAL SELLING. SELLING ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Selling on social media seems like a good idea to all of us. The traditional sales model and prospecting techniques are no longer effective for us.

If you work or have ever worked in sales, you know that sometimes you need strategies to approach a prospect or to win them over and create that connection that builds trust.

Today we'll tell you about a strategy that can get you results quickly: social selling.

What Is Social Selling?

From the name itself, we can guess that it's about selling on social media.

Without overcomplicating things, we define it as using social media to generate sales opportunities or prospects. These sales are centered on the customer and not on the product, as in traditional selling.

The goal of social selling is to build trust as part of your sales process. This is achieved by developing relationships with your prospects and current customers through social media.

Which Social Networks Can I Use for Social Selling?

You can do social selling on:

  • Facebook
  • Instagram
  • Twitter
  • LinkedIn

The last one is especially recommended when you offer a service or product for businesses and the sale is B2B (business-to-business), since this network lets you make direct connections with decision-makers.

In reality, you can do social selling on all social networks.

This strategy can improve the perception of your company very quickly, but if it's used poorly, it can backfire in the worst way.

To do social selling and expect good results, it's important to be very clear about a few things.

What You Should Know Before Selling on Social Media

Since our goal is to achieve real connections with real people, the first step is to know your target customer well. Remember that this is a completely customer-centered strategy.

Here are some points you MUST analyze if you plan to start a social selling strategy:

Identify the profile of your target audience or buyer persona: What do they do and what are they like, what do they like, what things do they dislike?

Understand their needs (regarding the change your product or service would make in their lives or businesses), their fears, their goals.

Research which social media platforms your buyer persona interacts on.

Know what type of content your buyer persona likes to consume. Is it videos, memes, images, maybe a podcast? What should we do to make it more likely to catch their attention?

Position yourself as a thought leader. Create original content that helps you become known as an expert in the field by providing useful information that addresses problems your product or service can solve.

Now you know what social selling is and what its goal is. In the next video, “How Do You Do Social Selling?” we'll give you some recommendations for doing it the right way.
