[VIDEO] HOW TO CREATE A SUCCESSFUL THANK-YOU PAGE
In the previous video, we saw what thank-you pages are for. Now let's look at how to create them so they deliver successful results.
Let's look at some of the best practices to make sure we create successful thank-you pages. But before we get into them, let's see if you can answer this question:
Why is a thank-you page more helpful to a marketer than a thank-you message on the landing page itself?

A thank-you page allows marketers to deliver additional content, move leads to the next step in the buyer's journey and extend their social media reach.
Best Practices for Your Thank-You Page
Now, let's talk about thank-you page best practices. The first one gets straight to the point.

Deliver the offer or set expectations about when the lead will receive the offer. Your lead gave you their information in exchange for your offer; now it's time to hold up your end of the deal.
Make sure the offer they're waiting for is easy to get. What was the offer? Was it an eBook, a whitepaper, a free trial or a demo?
Your thank-you page should include a link to access the offer or, in some cases, set the right expectations about what will happen next.
If you can't deliver the promised offer immediately, you should let your lead know what to expect. The example says: “Thank you! We'll call you within 2 to 3 business days to schedule your demo.”
The expectation is specific, with very little room for misinterpretation.
If, instead of a specific time frame, we put something like “soon” or “shortly,” it could mean a different amount of time to each person, which is why it's best to be specific whenever you can.

Also, your thank-you page should display the navigation menu.
Unlike a landing page, where you should focus on the offer and minimize distractions, here you want to give your leads every opportunity to browse around once you've converted them and brought them to your thank-you page.
If they want to read more about your company and explore your website, make it easy for them to do so.
A lead who has made it to your thank-you page has shown that they're interested in your offer. The lead will receive your offer but may think: Now what? That's why you should use the thank-you page to give that new lead next steps.
This could be a link to a case study, some key pages on your website or some of your blog posts. Try to make sure these content options are related to the offer the lead just received.
When you give them that additional content, remember to clearly explain where you're sending them after your thank-you page.
In addition to offering them additional content, why not use your thank-you page to guide your leads to the next step of the buyer's journey?
Your leads already like your content and your company; after all, they just filled out a form to get your offer.

Use this opportunity to show them another offer that catches their attention and might interest them.
That's right! Another call-to-action. The cycle continues, starting with another conversion process.
When considering which offer to present on your thank-you page, try to choose one that moves your lead forward in the buyer's journey.
If they just downloaded an educational paper or an ebook, they're gathering information, so they're probably not ready for a free trial or a demo yet.
Choose your CTA carefully, and if you feel that call-to-action may be too aggressive or unnecessary for your new lead, it's best not to include it.
And finally, there's another opportunity for engagement on the thank-you page when you include social media options.
There are several ways to do this. You can let your leads connect with you through a social network by including links to your company's profiles, or you can let them share the original content through their own networks. The choice is yours. Either way, the thank-you page can be a great place to extend your social media reach and generate more leads.
That's it for thank-you page best practices.
To recap:
- Deliver the offer or the expectation of when it will be delivered.
- Display the navigation menu.
- Offer additional content.
- Suggest another offer that moves leads forward in the buyer's journey.
- Include social media options.
Apply these best practices to your thank-you pages, and you'll be able to present your leads with content that moves them one step closer to becoming customers.
