The future of remote classes is still uncertain, but what will continue for a long time is the merging of social media into the academic world.

After such a drastic change, it's normal to have questions about how you handle social media in the academic sphere.

These are some key points you should already have in place, and if you don't have them yet, I recommend starting with these:

  • Website: A Facebook page or an Instagram profile is not enough. Although they are super important, having an innovative and creative website earns you extra points.
  • Marketing Investment: this is an investment you should make no matter what; having experts guide and help you will take you down the path that suits you best. (I recommend a company that specializes in inbound marketing.)
  • Publishing strategy: If you already have the previous points in place, you surely have this step mastered. If not, don't worry, just visualize the goals you want and look for strategies that help you achieve those goals.

Students and their parents don't visit your website every day, which is why social media is an extension of your institution, regardless of the academic levels or services you offer.

Social media is one of the channels that can determine whether someone chooses your institution or another one.

That is why I'm sharing these 5 tips you can use on social media:

  • Innovate your value proposition: It's not about creating a new one or promising something you can't deliver; simply adapting it to social media is more than enough.
  • Interesting messages (storytelling): Showing opinions, comments and suggestions is great, and feedback is always good. Now use all that information to your advantage and show through your digital content that you take it into account.
  • 1-on-1 interactions: Automated messages are not enough; reply to the comments people leave and interact with the people who follow you.
  • Be honest: From the content you publish to the way you treat people, this is essential.
  • Create the Buyer Persona for your social media: or ideal potential customer, and identify their buying cycle. This is a very powerful tool.
