At Digitalegia, we have talked a lot about how Inbound Marketing helps your customer acquisition strategy, and for the most part we have referred to B2B (Business-to-Business), and this often leaves aside online store owners or those who sell directly to the consumer, or B2C (Business-to-Consumer). That is why this time we will share 4 techniques to increase your e-commerce sales.

1. Create Value.

People like to buy things that are worth it, and if you give your products the right value, visitors to your online store will want to buy them. To add value, create discounts and share the link to the offer on social media. Make it clear and easy to use on your online store at checkout, and let customers see the total amount of the discount applied to their purchase. Don't forget that the discount should have a set time frame, that is, a start date and time and an end date and time. Enable it during the hours or days of the promotion so it can be used; there are even ways to limit it to a certain number of coupons per person.

Another way to create value is to create bundles (or packages) that include 3 or more different products at a lower cost than if the products were purchased individually. Or perhaps a gift with the purchase of some other product you want to move out of stock at that moment.

2. Build Trust

Risk Reversal

The trust you build in your store is extremely important for someone to dare to make a purchase online. To build trust, you first need to understand that people are taking a risk when they enter their financial information online so you can process it and send them what they just bought. What you need to do is reverse the risk they are taking by offering: Returns, Money-back guarantee, Quality assurance, Warranties, among others.

User ratings

If you already have customers, there is nothing wrong with asking them to write a rating and say whether they recommend the product. It is also fine to ask them about their shopping experience on your online store: Is there anything you should improve? Make your customers' comments and ratings stand out on your site so your new visitors can see what your other customers think.

Security Seals

To have an online store, it is essential to have the security certificates (https://) that protect users' information by encrypting it as it travels through your online store. Let your users know you have those certificates; include a secure checkout and the seals that mention the security you have built into your store.

3. Create a Sense of Urgency

People get carried away by the psychological pressure that influences them. If you do it properly, you will get your visitors to act immediately for fear of missing out on a great opportunity. To create that sense of urgency, include countdown timers: on each product page, add a timer showing how much time is left in the promotion, that is, until when they can buy that product at that price.

You can also add phrases like "Buy now," "Buy before it sells out," etc.

And you can use not only time in your favor but also quantity: you can mention how many units of that product you have left in stock, or whether it is a limited edition, or an offer for only the first 100 buyers. In short, it is up to you to come up with ways to use the quantity of your products in your favor.

4. Social Proof

Show that you are a human company, that there are people behind it, and that what you sell is also for people. Include images of customers, include social media buttons so they can share your products, and tell them how many times they have been shared. Ideally, you should show your proof in numbers, for example: "We have helped more than X customers," or others like: "Our most popular design," "100,000 people can't be wrong," etc.

There are a few other tips that may help you, such as: offering help through a chat linked to you or one of your employees, including Google autocomplete, fraud analysis, or, with new technology, you can even offer a way for customers to pay through their phone without having to enter their financial information on your website.
