Design Thinking helping marketing

Design and marketing have been connected since the beginning of time. Today, design goes beyond the visual stage; it is no longer just about creating illustrations, concepts, colors, typefaces, messages or logos.

“One more thing,” in the words of Steve Jobs, means going one step further. In other words, while marketing focuses on putting the customer first through an Inbound methodology to help every person or company achieve their goals, design takes a similar approach, with a deeply human focus, aiming to offer ideas that are emotionally meaningful to their audience, based on the intuitive ability to interpret what is observed.

New call-to-action

What is Design Thinking?

Design Thinking, although it is an innovation methodology today, dates back to the 1970s and is based mainly on the end user rather than the task. In other words, it is a process in which the designer has to put themselves in the user's shoes in order to get to know them and solve the problem they are facing from their perspective, empathizing completely, in an effective, creative and, above all, innovative way, generating a positive impact on these users' lives.

How does it help Inbound Marketing?

Both disciplines adapt to the way customers think, research and buy. They define different scenarios, which involves getting to know the target audience, and they identify people's needs and offer a solution with value.

Design helps marketing build customer loyalty. While Inbound offers extraordinary service, Design Thinking provides a service that takes customers' interests into account, generating attention to detail, so every product or service should be created with the user at the center.

Steps to implement Design Thinking

Design Thinking involves five steps: empathy, problem analysis and definition, idea generation, prototyping and testing. You may be wondering: how does this fit with the Inbound methodology? If we recall the buyer's journey, we can see the same steps: recognizing the problem, the solution and the decision. We can even link it to the principles of Inbound (consistency, personalization, optimization and adaptability).

This relationship can be clearly seen when Design Thinking is applied to UX/UI, that is, to the user experience.

Conclusion

These two methodologies complement each other. Although Design Thinking is a way of thinking that can be applied in any area, the goal of both is to help create products or services with an exceptional experience centered on the user and on their goals and needs.

At Digitalegia, we are experts in providing extraordinary solutions and experiences for our users through the Inbound Marketing methodology, backed by Design Thinking.
