5 COMMON MISTAKES WHEN RANKING OUR WEBSITE

Something quite common among those who start a website or blog project is that they want to gain greater relevance in a very short time, without any kind of order or criteria. Most Web Analytics experts know that it is not a very easy task, since there are many mistakes that are very common today.

So let's look at some of the most common mistakes:

1. Web/Blog Project Objective

Relatively speaking, this is a very important point, since you need to set some goals to know what your project will be based on. What are the objectives of our blog or website? Usually, when we make this decision, we already know what the main topic of the project will be, and although it seems very obvious, many people make this mistake by not reflecting on it for a moment.

2. Not Knowing Your Buyer Personas

Knowing your Buyer Personas according to their tastes, needs, or characteristics can help you find the goals, keywords, and content to publish. If we do not know the audience we are targeting, how will we succeed? The logical thing is to focus on our buyer personas with a specific gender, age, lifestyle, or job, rather than trying to write for everyone and ending up convincing no one.

3. Ranking for Generic Keywords

A very common mistake is trying to rank for keywords that get a lot of visits but face brutal competition, which can lead to total failure. Clearly, ranking for keywords with fewer visits but no strong competition would be the best option. Try to use long-tail keywords.

4. Think About the Title and Description Before Writing

It is very common to spend hours writing a post, but it is very important to devote a few minutes to the first thing users will read. Titles and descriptions should:

  • Include keywords.
  • Be attractive to users.

When we mention goals, one way to know which ones we need is to get to know our customers. If we know our readers' needs, we can write in a way that satisfactorily addresses them.

5. Do Not Duplicate Content From Other Pages

Covering many topics is difficult, and a little outside inspiration does not hurt. However, we cannot copy content word for word from another website, since Google seriously penalizes this, so our content must be unique and personalized.
